The Number 1 Motor Sports Photographer
in Alaska
Is now doing business in Washington
State

Prior to moving
his family to Alaska in 1983 Doug and his wife, Nancy and daughter, Brynn were
living in Seattle where Doug managed a building supply company. Upon arriving in Anchorage, Doug went
to work for a local wholesale building material supply company and stayed
involved in the construction trade until 2000.
Doug has always had a love of
photography and thought that someday he would take the leap toward photography
being his full time work. In 1988
Doug got his first business license for Doug Ogden Photography and worked it
part time shooting and selling stock photography of scenic Alaska. Being a motorhead and always
appreciating beautiful classic cars he took every opportunity to photograph the
occasional car show and classic car portrait. 1999 Doug found himself at the then NASCAR sanctioned North
Star Speedway asking the owner if they had a track photographer. The owner responded with, "We
do now!" and history was made.
With that momentum Doug went to the local IHRA drag strip, Alaska
Raceway Park, and posed the same question. Doug became the track photographer there as well. In 2000 he quit his full time job
as a construction project manger and committed full time to his real passion,
motor sports action photography.
In the spring of 2000 AutoGraphs
Photography was created. AutoGraphs, from Auto (Photo)Graphs. Doug moved
to digital with a state-of-the-art Event Photography System; Professional Kodak camera, custom built
laptop and two professional printers.
Since that time, new equipment has been purchased as the technology
leaped forward. Constantly
upgrading, AutoGraphs still uses the latest, most advanced digital equipment
available.
Talent, opportunity and equipment
is not all that makes AutoGraphs what it is today. It is by no small fact that Doug's wife, Nancy, is an
integral part of the business. For
the on-site print sales side of the business, Nancy edits the images, prints
and displays the proofs and creates print products for customers. But, her work at the sales station is
only part of it. Without Nancy's
enduring support and love, AutoGraphs Photography would not have been able to
survive.
In 7 seasons of racing action in
Alaska, AutoGraphs earned the status of the Number 1 motor sports photography
company in the state of Alaska. AutoGraphs became the official photographer at
every major motor sports event across the state. To name a few:
IHRA Drag Racing at Alaska Raceway Park,
North Star Speedway,
Moto-X and Sno-X at all major tracks in Anchorage,
Fairbanks, Valdez and Soldotna,
The Worlds longest and most difficult snowmobile race, The
Iron Dog,
The uniquely Alaskan, Arctic Man Ski and Sno-Go Classic,
Motorcycle and automobile Ice Racing,
The Valdez Mayors Cup 200 mile endurance snowmobile race,
The Valdez Mountain Man Hill Climb and Hill-X,
The Alyeska Hill Climb, Hill-X and Sno-X and
The oldest urban automobile race, the Fur Rondy Grand
Prix.
And many more!
In December of 2005, Doug and
Nancy moved back to Washington state to be closer to family. Until getting re-established in the new
market, Doug used his history in construction and took a job with the State of
Washington. The change in location
has offered a new direction to the business. Rather than shooting primarily for print sales, Doug wants
to expand into the stock and commercial assignment opportunities of action photography.
AutoGraphs has built an extensive
stock photo collection exceeding 500,000 images. Images are available to participants, event organizers, media
and advertising markets.
While in Alaska with all the
motorsports coverage AutoGraphs saw, Doug used the opportunity to become the
Motorsports Columnist for Coast Magazine
from June of 2003 until leaving in December 2005. His monthly articles provided results and announcements on
past and upcoming motor sports events.
While monitoring the schedules of every motorsports organization in the
state, AutoGraphs created and shared a full motorsports Calendar of Events on
it's website; www.ogdenphotos.com.
In addition to selling prints and
photo products, AutoGraphs has had photos published locally, nationally and
internationally in magazines, advertising, cellular wallpapers and
websites.

Drawing from the motorsports
experience and exposure, AutoGraphs has also photographed Equestrian Events,
College Basketball, and local musical groups.
But, AutoGraphs has not limited
itself to shooting action photography either. Doug has used the digital technology to move into other
areas of commercial photography including, commercial assignment, food and product
photography, on-site corporate head shots, and Party Portraits for company and corporate events.
Assignments willingly discussed.
